Linux is that the well-known and most-used open source OS. As an OS, Linux is software which sits underneath all the other software on a computer, receiving requests from those programs and relaying these requests to the hardware.
Linux is a very well known Operating System used in server, desktop and mobile computing. Linux platform is that the first option to host Database, Email, Applications and Web. Most of the planet class companies are running on Linux like Google, Facebook, Wikipedia, Yahoo, Amazon etc…
The Linux OS comprises several different pieces
- Boot Loader – The software that manages the boot process of computer.
- Kernel – The kernel is that the core of the system and manages the CPU, memory, and peripheral devices. The kernel is lowest level of the OS.
- Init system – This is often a sub-system that bootstraps where the user space and is charged with controlling daemons. One among the foremost widely used init systems is system.
- Daemons – These are background services (printing, sound, scheduling, etc.) that either start up during boot or after you log into the desktop.
- Graphical Server – This is often the sub-system that displays the graphics on your monitor.
- Desktop Environment – This is often the piece that the users actually interact with.Each desktop environment includes built-in applications (such as file managers, configuration tools, web browsers, and games).
- Applications – Desktop environments don’t offer the complete array of apps. A bit like Windows and macOS, Linux offers thousands upon thousands of high-quality software titles which will be easily found and installed.
